English IPA Chart (General American)

Phoneme uses General American English with a house notation of 38 phonemes: 14 vowels (9 monophthongs and 5 diphthongs) and 24 consonants. Stressed /ʌ/ is merged with schwa /ə/, and the LOT and THOUGHT vowels are merged as /ɑ/ (the cot–caught merger). British RP equivalents are noted on each sound page where they differ.
